This program is all about learning how to identify wild animals by the tracks that they leave behind. Our park interpreter will guide you out onto the hiking trail in search of paw prints, hoof prints, claw markings, and any other evidence of animal traffic. After this we will return to the visitor center where you can create your very own mold of any animal track of your choice. All materials will be provided by the park. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to hike at least half of a mile.

In our park's nature center, you can see many different native animals of Virginia. Join us on Saturday to observe these beautiful animals during their dinner time. From snakes to turtles to fish, you will be able to see all of these park animals devouring a meal. Park staff will provide information about the animals and will then show you what types of diets are best for them.

Let’s head over to Edmunds Lake and try to wrangle in some big fish. Our 25-acre lake offers some of the best fishing opportunities in the park, and is one of the most beautiful and natural areas in Scottsburg, VA. A park ranger will escort everyone to the fishing location and will be available to show you how to tie some basic fisherman’s knots that will help you reel in the big one. Some fishing poles and worms will be provided, but feel free to bring your own rod and tackle.
