Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Staunton River State Park, 1170 Staunton Trail, Scottsburg, VA 24589.
Observation Field
When
Aug. 27, 2022. 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Come join the fantastic storytellers of CHAOS (Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society) on the observing field to share the stories of the stars. Hear about constellations, planets, astrophotography, and the distance from the stars to Earth! Stop by the visitor center to pick up a red light ‘filter’ for your flashlight or phone (this reduces the impact to observers’ night vision on the field).
Masks requested and remember to practice social distancing.
