Amateur Radio operators will set up a Parks on the Air demonstration station in Shenandoah River State Park!  Parks on the Air, simply known as POTA, is an amateur radio activity in which Ham Radio operators travel to various park entities and public lands in different states or countries to set up their radio equipment to make contacts with other Hams. Locations can range from sprawling National Parks or National Forests to smaller state parks or wildlife areas. The activity comprises two groups: hunters and activators.

Don't miss the solar eclipse on April 8!  You won't be able to view another solar eclipse from the contiguous United States until 2044, so take advantage of this year's solar eclipse watch party at Cullers Overlook.

Wildflowers, especially bluebells, abound and delight.  We meet at the visitor center to review tips for photographing flowers.  After meeting at the visitor center, we will explore the boardwalk trail near the Right Campground.  The hike will be 1.5- 2 miles long on easy terrain.

Keep an eye out for the Roving Ranger who will be visiting various locations throughout the park.

Explore Redtail Ridge under the moonlight.  At 9 pm, we will be hosting a night hike on Redtail Ridge Trail to celebrate National Trails Day! This trail features a walk through the forest and a few great overlooks along the ridge.

What is a gundalow?  A gundalow was a long wooden flatboat that was used to haul merchandise down the Shenandoah River.
