Stop by from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. to explore Virginia's WATERWAYS with hands-on activities and sensory explorations. The friendly folks from Family Learning Adventures will share all sorts of fascinating facts about Virginia's fresh water habitats that we all rely on.

Join special guest Karyn Reid, the Floodplain Program Planner for Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation, as she shares her in-depth knowledge about Virginia's watersheds shows a demo watershed floodplain model.  Karyn will be using a model and presenting topics such as: types of flooding we see in Virginia, how different land uses like parking lots, storm water retention ponds, and wetlands impact our watersheds’ ability to control flooding.

Learn about the importance of clean water and practice taking scientific measurements from various natural water sources throughout Powhatan State Park.

***REGISTRATION IS FULL*** Warm summer nights combined with the lush, blooming grasslands at Powhatan State Park make the perfect stage for dancing fireflies! Join us at 7:30 p.m. for a glowing bug craft, then around 8 p.m. we'll learn about their amazing adaptations from a Virginia Master Naturalist followed by a ranger-led hayride alongside the rolling hills and wide-open meadows to watch their famous display.
