We welcome you to join us at Sailor's Creek Battlefield for a day of remembrance at our annual Memorial Day program. This year at 2:00 p.m. we will have a special service at the Visitor Center in memory of those who have served in the armed forces. We will have special music, a presentation giving an historical overview of Memorial Day, a period observance from mid-19th century clergy, an honor guard, rifle salute, and much more.

We welcome visitors to join a battlefield historian for a guided hike as we explore some of the lesser known aspects of the battles along Little Sailor's Creek. Find out about General Richard Ewell and his command, along with General Horatio Wright and their overwhelming victory. Hikers will hear stories from primary sources, eye witness-accounts, Medal of Honor recipients, and will find out what the Federal Army did with all of the prisoners and casualties following the engagement.

Veterans and their sacrifices are important to us here at Sailor's Creek Battlefield.  We invite visitors to join the staff for our annual Veteran's Day Luminary commemorative event to honor all those who have served our nation's military, past and present. At dusk, rangers will lead the groups of visitors down an illuminated path where historical vignettes will be recreated by historians describing the scenes from the Battles of Sailor's Creek and its aftermath. This year we will highlight a new trail on a section of the battlefield that we have never used before.

This year we will follow in the footsteps of the 18th Georgia Battalion (Savannah Volunteer Guard) and the 121st New York Infantry. Visitors will be divided into two groups and led by park rangers and historians Joshua Lindamood and Zachary Pittard. The tour will help commemorate the 158th anniversary of the battle. The tour will begin and end at the Visitor Center. This program will include a hike out to where these two units engaged along with an interpretive program.
