I read about Twin Lakes State Park as the park of the Month in this February article, where the following really captured my attention:

"If building memories and exploring the outdoors is what you are looking for in a vacation then Twin Lakes State Park your destination. This is a family friendly place; bring the kids, the dog and the bikes!"

So another off-season getaway was in-store for us as we reserved cabin 6 at this charming Virginia State Park!

We enjoyed an intimate coffee for two this afternoon as we watched the sunset

The screened in porch was perfect to play cards, eat breakfast or just watch the time fly

This is another in this series where I actually name names! By that I mean I am sharing a specific cabin at a specific park. As I mentioned in this article referring to Westmoreland State Park cabin #14, it was super helpful for me as a state park goer to know the specifics. I don't want you to miss out on this great location at Cabin 6, all the space and serenity right outside your door!

We really enjoy going off season when the crowds are at bay. The outdoors is spectacular year-round in Virginia, so we know there will always be something interesting to see and do.

Sleeps 6 with a Twist

Cabin 6 is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin with a full kitchen and living room with wood burning fireplace, and dining area.

The 2 bedrooms in cabin 6 have 1 single bed and a set of bunk beds each (there are no larger beds in this cabin). So this may not work for the average family/couple, but for friends it may work even better! The cabin has been renovated of late, and has a new roof, new flooring, really nice kitchen and other amenities. There are 6 cabins to choose from, as well as a cottage and bunk house style lodge. Learn more about the overnight facilities at Twin Lakes State Park here. Click here for cabin rental fees (PDF).

Super Spacious Outside

We were impressed by the amount of outside space at this cabin. There are three cabins waterfront, and cabin 4 and 6 seemed to have the most yard. The picnic table, grill and fire ring are perfectly located between the cabin and the lake. The little bench sits water side and there is also a tie up for a boat. Across the way is the canoe/john boat rental for this lake and two little fishing docks.

Helpful Hints

#1 Make sure you visit Sailor's Creek Battlefield Historical State Park. This was the last major battle in the Civil War. It is a day park only, so be sure to observe the hours of operation and special programs to get the most out of your visit! It's just a few miles up the road!

#2 Don't miss the sunrises, as well as the sunsets! This quaint little lake outside our cabin, and seen through our windows was "just a little lake" but the entire scenery changed throughout the day, it was really stunning!

#3 Take a short ride south on Hwy 360 towards Keysville and you will find a drive in theater. Watch movies under the stars! Or head East on Hwy 460 you will find a Railroad Museum in Crewe Virginia. Both of these are great family fun events!

Reserve This Cabin

Make your reservation for this cabin at Twin Lakes State Park online here, or call 800-933-7275 Monday-Friday. Cabin 4 would be my next favorite, also very private and waterfront!
