Two Routes of Rhythm Music Trail Performances at Pocahontas State Park
Shared by Rebecca Whalen, as Guest Blogger.
Experience the heritage of American music that was born in the crossroads of Virginia’s piedmont.
Pocahontas State Park, in Chesterfield, Virginia is proud to host Alternative Folk band The Wayward Bills on September 2, and the big band sounds of the Richmond Jazz Band on September 3 as part of our Routes of Rhythm Music Trail in partnership with Benchmark Community Bank.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 2 THE WAYWARD BILLS
The Wayward Bills play harmony-rich music of Virginia's Piedmont, a rustic blend of Americana with hues of folk, bluegrass, country and rock 'n' roll. Formed in 2012, the all-acoustic band features Scott Richards on bass and vocals; Mark Gormus on mandolin, guitar, and vocals; and Will Jones on guitar and vocals. The band's original material and occasional covers draw from the likes of Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and Henry Mancini, and pay tribute to Richmond's musical past. Listen to them here.
See The Wayward Bills perform live on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. behind the CCC Museum, overlooking Beaver Lake. The event will be held weather permitting. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and their dancing shoes. The concert is free, but the daily parking fee will apply.
