Due to the expected impact of the winter storm, all Virginia State Park overnight facilities will be closed from Friday, Jan. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 25. This decision is based on the forecast for unsafe conditions and potential power outages. For updates click here.

Three Reasons to Visit Natural Bridge After Dark this December
Holiday traditions are such a big part of our lives, and Virginia State Parks are no different. That is why you are cordially invited to join Natural Bridge State Park for our most treasured Christmas traditions.
We invite you to celebrate the season with us at three of our favorite events this December at Natural Bridge State Park, and they mostly take place after dark.
1. | Luminary Nights
A Christmastime favorite is our Luminary Nights, which will be held on December 14 and 15, 2018. You can enjoy an evening stroll with your friends and family, while taking in the breathtaking views of the Natural Bridge. Cedar Creek Trail leads you to your view of the bridge and it will be lined with luminaries.
Not only will luminaries lead the way, but the bridge itself will be lit with festive colors.
2. | Festival of the Trees
Enjoy the Festival of Trees and see the beautifully decorated trees
Natural Bridge State Park will host the 3rd Annual Festival of Trees from November 23 - January 1. Come see the beautifully decorated trees in the park Visitor Center, you might even get some decorating idea for your own tree.
Not only will you have the opportunity to view uniquely adorned trees, but you can also donate items to a wonderful cause. This year's donations will benefit the Rockbridge SPCA. Place donated items under your favorite trees that are decorated by local area businesses and organizations.
You can find a list of donation items needed on the Rockbridge SPCA website.
3. | Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
Horse drawn carriage rides, what better way to get into the Christmas spirit (see note below)
Horse drawn carriage rides will also be available during Luminary Nights (Dec. 14 and 15). Imagine beautiful horses pulling you in a carriage under the spectacularly lit bridge, what a fantastical view and for all ages. Makes me think of Sugar Plum Fairies and all the joy of Christmas.
My family and I are already signed up for our carriage ride and I hope you will register soon, because the rides are limited and are filling up quickly. *Edited to add: the carriage rides are completely sold out, you may call the park at 540-291-1330 if you would like to be added to the stand-by list.
Bonus
Don't miss the chance to visit Santa, hope you've been good
The Jolly Old Elf himself will make an appearance during Luminary Nights (Dec. 14 and 15). Make Natural Bridge State park a part of your family traditions this holiday season. The Festival of Trees is open to the public during the parks regular business hours and during the Luminary Nights.
