Smokey Bear will introduce Ranger Parker Redfox at First Landing State Park

Saturday, May 10, 2014 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As part of First Landing State Park's Smokey Bear Day, a fun-filled day of outdoor activities and exhibitors, Smokey Bear will introduce the new Virginia State Parks mascot, Ranger Parker Redfox.  Designed specifically for Virginia State Parks, Parker is our newest ambassador with a mission to help reconnect children with the outdoors.

Come out for some fun with Smokey Bear and our Park Rangers!

Having Smokey Bear and Ranger Parker Redfox appear together will help children understand the connections between the dangers of wildfires, the importance of forest habitats, recreational fun in parks, and diversity of species in the outdoors. 

Smokey Bear Day is Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the main picnic shelter on the trail side of the park.  The day's activities will include guided hikes, children's crafts, photo sessions with Smokey Bear and Ranger Parker Redfox, as well as displays by local eco-oriented places like the Virginia Aquarium. 

Ranger Parker Redfox is Virginia State Parks newest ambassador helping reconnect children with the outdoors!
