Summer is coming to an end! To keep the summer excitement going Pocahontas State Park has partnered with the Virginia Museum of Radio Entertainment to host a weekend long event on Friday, September 14, and Saturday, September 15, 2012. The weekend will start off with an outdoor concert by the classic rock band, Foreigner and wind down with the Virginia Hops and Harvest Festival.

Classic rock band Foreigner will play at the Heritage Amphitheater.

Foreigner is known for their multi-platinum hits including “Cold as Ice” “Feels Like the First Time” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Foreigner has 14 Top 20 hits with some of them the most enduring songs in rock history as well as 10 multi-platinum albums. Local high school choir, James River High School will join Foreigner to sing the bands #1 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Foreigner is partnering with the Grammy Foundation charity to support high school music programs nationwide. Special guest and the rock legends, The Yardbirds will appear at the Hops & Harvest Festival at the Heritage Amphitheater.

And if Foreigner was not enough, VMRE will host the Virginia Hops & Harvest Festival a day-long celebration of Virginia's bounty, featuring local artisans, craft brewers, food vendors, and outdoor adventure companies, in the beautiful setting of Virginia's largest state park.  Music will be provided by Dallas Wesley, Sweet Justice, Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso, Paul Plumeri Blues Band, and special guests rock legends THE YARDBIRDS. 

The Hops & Harvest Festival is a celebration of Virginia's bounty, featuring local artisans, craft brewers, food vendors, and outdoor adventure companies.

Among the scheduled activities included with admission are brewing exhibits by featured craft brewers, kayaking demonstrations presented by The Appomattox River Company, and gear and camping presentations by REI. Featured Virginia Craft Beers Include: Bold Rock Hard Cider, Bull & Bones, Devil's Backbone, Hardywood Park, Legend, Midnight Brewery, O'Connor, Roanoke Railhouse, Starr Hill and Wolf Hills. Tickets are $12.50 advance, $15.00 at the gate.
