Outdoor Vacation Paradise Can be Found at Hungry Mother State Park
There is no denying that Hungry Mother State Park has one of the most unusual names in all Virginia's 36 State Parks and that it is also one of the most unique parks in Southwest Virginia and it is our Park of the Month for August.
As soon as you drive into the park the resounding giggles are heard echoing across the lake from the children splashing and playing in the water and on the beach. You are quickly reminded that this is a very special place where memories are made.

The programs are scheduled daily during the summer months and in some programs visitors can expect to get wet, like when you learn about the aquatic life of water. In other programs you may learn about wildflowers or wildlife or how to make a difference in protecting the earth. But in most all programs you can expect to have fun!
