Have you ever been to Claytor Lake State Park?
Claytor Lake State Park is located in Pulaski County, Virginia approximately half an hour from Blacksburg, Virginia, the location of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
The park has a famous lake known to avid boaters and lake-sporters as the place to be on a hot summer day. And I can't blame them, the beauty is overwhelming.
I had the luxury of visiting this park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The amenities this park had certainly amazed me. The biggest attraction of the park is most certainly the gorgeous lake!
The park also has campgrounds, cabins, and lodges for those wishing to make an extended stay. The park has numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, and interpretive events.
The interpretive programs are numerous at Claytor Lake and are what I believe give the park most meaning. These programs and events connect park visitors to the meaning, history, and culture of the park. Without the interpretive programs, visitors may never truly understand why the land has been protected as a state park by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The park also has an historic home perfect for a wedding. The home is situated on the shore of the lake and has a gazebo with surrounding seating for an outdoor destination wedding.
Claytor Lake State Park also has a beautiful conference center with a walkway to the marina and a porch with a gorgeous view. This conference center is perfect for wedding receptions or business meetings!
Claytor Lake State Park is also bursting with history and one can discover that past by visiting the Water's Edge Meeting Facility and by walking around the various sites at the park.
Whatever you are looking for, you can find it at Claytor Lake State Park, be it fun times with family or friends, a place to commune with nature, a destination for a wedding, or a location for an inspiring business retreat.
