Live music will be provided by Randolph Walker, One Man Band, based in Roanoke, Virginia. Walker sings, plays guitar, and plays a rack-mounted harmonica, all while working a hi-hat cymbal, tambourine, and bass drum with his feet. This is no novelty act. Walker performs “retro-flavored” originals with a 60s-70s feel. Even if you don’t like to dance, Walker is entertaining just to watch!
Local wines by Stanburn Winery and Chateau Morrisette will be served for the midnight toast; punch and spiced cider will also be on the menu for non-alcoholic toasting. There will be party favors, disco lighting, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
Advance reservations may be made by calling the park at (276) 930-2424. Visa & MC accepted. Cost is $30 per couple and is non-refundable. Parking fees are waived for events held at Fayerdale Hall.
After a night of festivities, start the year off right by attending the First Day Hike on January 1, 2012. The two-mile hike out-and-back along the Lakeshore Trail is free, open to the public and is sure to help clear the cobwebs from the night before! Hikers should be prepared for winter weather and dress appropriately. Meet at the Little Mountain Trailhead near the Park Amphitheater.
