Every year I feel like they start to bring out the holiday decorations earlier and earlier, but somehow each year the holidays seem to go by quicker and quicker.

During the holidays, people get busy with not just living their day to day lives, but with also rushing to find and wrap special gifts, making tasty sweet treats, getting out the decorations, entertaining guests, and so much more.

Sometimes after the holidays we reflect on the things that we wished we had done or start saying that next year we will get around to it.

Well, this year is the year that you need to mark the calendars and set aside time for those extra fun holiday activities such as Lighting of the Tunnel at Natural Tunnel State Park.

The Christmas Lighting of the Tunnel is something that you won’t want to miss at Natural Tunnel State Park. This year it takes place November 24-25, 2017 and December 1-2, 8-9, and 15-23 (except 17th), 2017. The event opens at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m.

ONE OF A KIND EVENT

This special event features thousands of lights lining the way to the mouth of the tunnel, movable Christmas displays, hot chocolate, roasted marshmallows, and Santa.

The sounds of local entertainers lead the crowd in some of the most loved Christmas carols. And The Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association will tell Christmas stories dressed in 1775 period attire in the Carter Cabin.

GIVE A FRIEND A LIFT

It is a time for all of us to be kind to one another and to give back and help our communities as much as we can. Help give back at Give a Friend a Lift Night, on November 24, 2017, by bringing in non-perishable food items to be distributed to a local food bank or shelter in need.

Help us make several families Christmas a little brighter. Items can be brought in that evening at the chairlift building. Individuals that bring in 2 or more non-perishable food items will receive a free chairlift ride for that evening only. This is a one day event.
