Our dog is a part of our family, and there is no greater place to take her than camping at a Virginia State Park! The reason our family chose Virginia State Parks in the first place is that they are pet friendly!

When we began our journey to find campgrounds and cabins for our family, we were sad to find out that at some other state park systems, dogs aren't allowed to overnight! Our dog is an integral part of our family.

At Virginia State Parks we discovered that not just one or two cottages are pet friendly, but all of them! Campgrounds are the same, not just personal RV's but all campsites allow dogs.

There is a $10 per night fee per pet in the cabins, and there is NO FEE to bring your pets to Virginia State Parks campgrounds!

Virginia State Parks provide comfortable and economical overnight accommodations. There are more than 300 cozy, climate-controlled cabins of various sizes throughout the state. Many cabins are available year round. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern-day life, you can't beat a Virginia State Park cabin.

Camping and Campgrounds
Twenty-four state parks throughout the state have campgrounds (click here for park rates) that have a total of more 1,700 campsites. Site sizes and configurations vary. Some parks provide sites with electric and water hook-ups, which tend to be larger to accommodate recreational vehicles and campers. Kiptopeke and Hungry Mother campgrounds offer sewer hook-ups. Most campgrounds are open from March 1 through the first Monday in December; primitive sites are available year-round.

Virginia State Parks (February 11, 2016 01:45:47 PM): Yes, we dropped the campground dog fee in 2013.

Bob Scott (February 11, 2016 01:07:10 PM): Am I to understand you have rescinded the pet fee in the campgrounds? It was $5 per dog, per night, but as I'm reading this, it says there is a fee only for the cabins, not the camp sites. Please tell me I'm correct.....
