A Theme Park Adventure at Twin Lakes State Park
It is never too late to start planning your dream vacation
On a shoestring budget, I know better than to ask my kids, do you want to go to "A Theme Park" or a Virginia State Park? So instead, we just go! Instead of waiting until we can afford to go on that big, dreamy adventure we take lots of little ones nearby.
After all, if you're a Virginia resident, you live within an hour's drive of one of Virginia's 36 award-winning state parks.
Here are some great reasons to start planning a family destination to Twin Lakes State Park:
Kids and adults of all ages love it. Enter a world where all your cares can take the backburner for a while. Take a deep breath of fresh air, explore a trail and enjoy nature’s attractions.
You’ll experience nature in all its wonderment in our magical Animal Kingdom. Some of the animals of the park you may encounter at Twin Lakes are white-tailed deer, opossum, striped skunk, red fox, raccoon, river otter, beaver, gray squirrel, black bear, garter snake, box turtle, yellow bellied slider turtle (the ones on the logs out in the lake sunning themselves), bullfrog, bluebird, cardinal, barred owl, great blue heron, Canadian geese.
Experience the beauty of nature
Imagination is encouraged at our park and there are attractions for all to enjoy. You may even have a "Character" experience. Occasionally Virginia State Park’s mascot Ranger Parker Redfox visits. The photo opportunities are endless.

Dreams come true for children and adults of all ages with plenty of fish tales just waiting to be told!
Kids under 16 don’t need a fishing license and those over 16 can purchase a license at the park (5 day VA resident $14; annual $23). Fishing is available year round on both lakes.
