Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Blue Goose Tram

Blue Goose TramTake a 4 hour guided tour through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park! Spot wildlife from the Blue Goose Tram and learn the history of this spectacular area. Participants can be dropped off at the visitor center at False Cape and then picked up at the visitor center by the tram on the way back to the refuge. Or guests can continue with the tram to the Wash Woods church and cemetery site for a guided hike (1-mile round-trip)*.

Spring and Fall Schedule

  • From April through Memorial Day, May 29, and from Sept. 9 through Oct. 30, the tram runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
    • The tram leaves the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge parking lot at 9 a.m. and returns there at 1 p.m.

Summer Season

  • During prime season - from June 3 through Labor Day (Sept. 5) - the tram runs on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Winter Season

  • From November to the end of March the tram runs the first and third Sunday and the last Saturday of each month.

  • $5 per vehicle payable by cash or check only.
