Meet a ranger for a leisurely paced morning walk from Foster Falls to the Shot Tower. Participants will have the opportunity to identify unique flora and fauna as well as learn about our unique park history. The hike will cover 3 miles round trip. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes and bring water to drink. Leashed pets are welcome.
Meeting place: the Caboose at Foster Falls
The trail surface is crushed stone and a gentle grade. This program is weather dependent. Please check our event listing on the New River Trail website for cancellations.

About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 44 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
