Join the park (and the world) in participating in the 28th annual Great Backyard Bird Count held Friday, February 13, through Monday, February 16, 2026. This event is a free, fun, and easy way to help scientists from the Audubon Society, The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and Bird Studies of Canada while being right in your backyard, no matter your birding experience!
Natural Tunnel State Park offers a variety of trails that allow park-goers to experience the wonders of nature. Whether you’re checking out the tunnel, visiting the Blockhouse, or leisurely strolling through the park, you may find yourself curious about the birds you see.
Three ways you can participate:
1. Visit https://www.birdcount.org/ to learn more and report any birds you spot.
2. Stop by the Visitor Center for a brochure covering some of the most common birds in the park!
3. Download the Merlin Bird ID app for Apple or Android for identifying and reporting your sightings right from the trail.
