Winter Wetland Walk

Location of Bear Creek Lake State Park in Virginia

Where

Bear Creek Lake State Park, 22 Bear Creek Lake Rd., Cumberland, VA 23040.
Lakeside Snack Bar

When

Jan. 31, 2026. 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In recognition of World Wetland Day on February 1, 2026, this 45-minute walk will find us winding along Little Bear Creek. This woodland stream has been transformed by time and beavers into a wetland area and an important park habitat. The trail is moderately level terrain with two short steeper inclines.

Following the walk, we'll give a welcoming nod to the coming spring season, Groundhog Day and the Snow Moon, by having a campfire with s'mores fixings available on a limited basis.

These activities will not be held in the event of inclement weather or winds over 10 miles per hour.
