Join us on Earth Week for a Hungry Mother Lake clean-up. Learn about the importance of keeping our waters clean, and what critters depend on clean water in the lake. Then we will paddle around the lake picking up trash and helping keep our lake pristine. Pre-register at 276-781-7400 by 4:30 p.m. the previous day.
Previous boating experience is strongly encouraged. You may bring your own canoe or kayak or use one of the park's. If using park equipment, pre-registration for this program is required by 5 p.m. on April 17th. Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet or dirty and wear shoes that strap to your feet so you don't lose them.
About Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 44 parks.
