When
Dec. 21, 2025. 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
The winter solstice marks the first day of winter for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, which is also our shortest day and the longest night of the year. Commemorate this annual phenomenon with a guided sunset hike under the open skies above the meadows and in the darkening forest.
The trail is about three miles along mostly flat terrain. Participants will alternate between active walking and standing stationary while quietly listening and observing our surroundings. Please dress for the weather with close-toed walking shoes and bring water. If you have one, bring a flashlight with red setting to minimize disturbance of nocturnal wildlife. We will also provide red cellophane to modify standard white light flashlights.
Register here to let us know you're coming. We will contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
