Jan. 1, 2026. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Start the New Year off on a good foot with a ranger-led hike through a rich variety of landscapes: winter woods, the tranquil James River, and frosty golden meadows. A walk among friends, family, and strangers surrounded by nature's beauty will be sure to nurture your body, mind, and soul!
The trail is a 2.5-mile-long loop that is mostly flat with a few moderate hills. Please bring water, dress for the weather, and wear footwear that you don't mind getting dirty.
For those with limited mobility, we can show you a modified route or other trails throughout the park. If you would like to reserve the park's new all-terrain wheelchair, please click here and follow the instructions.
About First Day Hikes
