Find time to head down to the Tunnel Platform, where you’ll enjoy amazing views of the 300-foot-tall amphitheater walls of the Natural Tunnel, spot rock pigeons, and, if you’re lucky, see a passing train. Guest presenter Tony Scales will be there to explain how this natural marvel was formed and share more about the park’s history.

Tony Scales was born in Bristol, Virginia, and raised in Bristol, Tennessee, and now resides in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He earned master's and bachelor's degrees in geology from the University of Tennessee. A Certified Professional Geologist, he has spent his professional career in the coalfields of Southwest Virginia. He has published a number of professional articles, and the books "Natural Tunnel: Nature’s Marvel in Stone", and "The Breaks; The Grand Canyon of the South".

Natural Tunnel State Park is proud to offer red/green colorblindness correcting outdoor glasses by EnChroma during all offered programming; three protan red sensitivity and three deutan green sensitivity are available for use during programs.
