A Life, in Stone a Historic Cemetery Preservation Program

This historic cemetery preservation program will be taught by park staff and volunteers at Big Stone Gap’s Glencoe Cemetery from 1-4 p.m. September 20.

The program will demonstrate intermediate conservation treatments for all the most common gravestone and monument preservation dilemmas, including dirt/biological growth, resetting tilted stones and rejoining/repairing fractured stones, all of which are so common throughout many cemeteries in the area.

The program will be held rain or shine, so participants should wear sturdy-toed shoes and dress properly for outdoor activity.

The fee for the A Life, in Stone Historic Cemetery Preservation Workshop is $25 per person. All supplies and materials are included. Registration is required. Spaces are limited, so register early.
