October Volunteer Workday: Bare Roots Replanting

Location of Claytor Lake State Park in Virginia

Where

Claytor Lake State Park, 6620 Ben H. Bolen Dr., Dublin, VA 24084.
Howe House

When

Oct. 11, 2025. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

We need your help replanting our bare root native plants! Currently, these plants are growing in a garden bed behind the Howe House that has acted as a nursery. Now that they have established themselves, it’s time to replant them around the park. Volunteers will assist with relocating the bare root plants and installing fencing to protect them from deer. No experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided.

Each month, volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join a project that helps improve and maintain our beautiful park. Projects vary monthly and may include trail maintenance, park beautification, litter cleanup, or special volunteer activities. This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet new people, and give back to the park you love.

Please bring sunscreen, wear closed-toe shoes, and don’t forget to bring water. Together, we can make a real difference at Claytor Lake State Park. If you have any questions, please email Hannah.Wetzel@dcr.virginia.gov. Parking fees are waived for all volunteers.
