Plants are far more than just part of the park's scenery; many plants have a wide variety of uses for humans. Dozens of plants we see every day can be used for food or medicine if you know how to identify them. Virginia is host to countless native plants that are edible or medicinal and have been used by humans for centuries. From big fruit trees like paw paws and persimmons, to small flowers like violets and dandelions, plenty of common plants have uses that might surprise you. Come to our forest foraging hike and learn how you can get more out of nature! Meet the Rangers at the Bayview Trailhead. Please wear sturdy shoes. Sunscreen and insect repellent are also recommended. Please bring plenty of water.
