Turtle Shell-ebration!

Location of Powhatan State Park in Virginia

Where

Powhatan State Park, 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.
Shelter 1

When

Aug. 2, 2025. 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Let's give a warm welcome to the park's new ambassador animal, a spunky little Mud Turtle! You're invited to come celebrate his arrival and to give him a new name.

As a 'shell-ebratory' party guest, you'll have the chance to vote on your favorite turtle name, learn all about Virginia's native turtles, and make your very own paper turtle to take home. In honor of his muddiness, dirt-themed snacks will be offered along with chilled refreshments. Our turtle's new aquatic home is in a tank at the Park Office, so stop by to visit him in his tank there before or after the party!

Register here to let us know you're coming. We will contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
