For years, the railroad has played a vital role in the economics and history of Southwest Virginia. The park and Norfolk Southern Railroad are partnering together to provide a program that will touch upon railroad history and promote railroad safety. The tunnel is normally closed to foot traffic; however, for this special event, train traffic will stop and you can walk the tracks through the tunnel. Guests are encouraged to hike down the trail or ride the chairlift to visit the tunnel. Stop by Carter Cabin to hear about the history of the cabin and the area.

There will be a concession stand and local vendors to provide food and light refreshments for purchase on site.

Parking is $7 per vehicle. Parking for this event will take place in the picnic area. Shuttles will be provided.

The chairlift is $5 per person for a round-trip ticket or $4 per person for a one-way ticket. Children three and younger ride free.
