How do forests change over time? How does nature recover from human impacts? Join a ranger on this guided hike along Chippokes Trace Trail and learn about the ecology and history of Chippokes. Along the trail, learn about the natural process of forest succession, the gradual changes in plant communities over time, and explore how human activities, from early settlement to modern times, have shaped and influenced these lands and ecosystems. This engaging hike offers insight into the dynamic relationship between people and nature, highlighting both challenges and conservation efforts. Hike is approximately 2 miles. Guests are highly encouraged to bring hats, sunscreen, bug spray, comfortable walking/hiking shoes and water bottles. Meet at the Chipoax Trace Trail Parking lot.
