July Volunteer Workday: Stop the Spread of Spotted Lanternflies

Where
Claytor Lake State Park, 6620 Ben H. Bolen Dr., Dublin, VA 24084.
Howe House
When
July 12, 2025. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Help us protect our native trees by removing invasive Spotted Lanternfly nymphs. Spotted Lanternflies are an invasive species causing widespread harm to native trees, crops, and ecosystems across our region. Volunteers will walk designated areas, stomp nymphs, and spray them with soapy water. We will start at the Howe House and make our way throughout the park. No experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided.
Each month, volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to work together on a project that helps improve and maintain our beautiful park. Projects vary each month and may include tasks like trail maintenance, park beautification, litter cleanup, or special volunteer projects. This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet new people, and give back to the park you love.
Please bring sunscreen, wear closed-toe shoes, and don't forget some water. Together we can make a real difference at Claytor Lake State Park. Please email Hannah.Wetzel@dcr.virginia.gov if you have any questions.
The parking fee is waived for all volunteers.
