Along the way, take in breathtaking vistas of Douthat Lake and discover a hidden vernal pool, a seasonal habitat teeming with life. For our younger adventurers, a fun scavenger hunt will keep them engaged as they search for unique natural treasures along the trail. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a nature lover of any age, this hike offers the perfect opportunity to connect with the beauty of the park and celebrate the spirit of National Trails Day, one step at a time.

About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 43 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
