Grab your journal and come on down to the park and try your hand at a new skill - Nature Journaling! This practice is done to help you slow down and focus, finding wonder in the things around you. What you need to bring:

A journal (any kind will do: sketchbook or notebook, blank or lined)

Your favorite writing/drawing tool

What we have:

Extra pens/pencils/colored pencils

A variety of books on the subject

Plenty of nature

This is a free program for people ages 12+ who either already have a journal or are interested in starting to learn these skills. Please wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather since we will be outside.

About Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 44 parks.
