Often overlooked as just a simple plant, lichen (which isn't even a plant) is one of nature's best examples of different organisms coming together to form a mutualistic relationship. Come learn about the incredible lichen, a complex organism composed of fungi and algae. Bear Creek Lake State Park is home to a variety of lichen species that play an important role in our environment.

This program will start with a presentation on lichen at the Lakeside Snack Bar, which is universally accessible. After the presentation, there will be a half mile walk over fairly level terrain with a couple short inclines.
