Stop by the nature center booth to borrow a Family Learning Adventures adventure pack for the day. These fun exploratory, hands-on activities for school-aged children come in backpacks and plastic tubs that can be checked out for the day or overnight for families that are camping. Naturalist and educator Roger Pinholster will be there to assist you in selecting your pack and answer any questions you have.

The packs are free to check out. A staff member will coach and guide the entire family on how to use the materials and equipment. The pack's activities focus on Virginia's wildlife and natural environment. Topics include hours of learning on: amphibians and reptiles, birds, insects, mammals, rocks, trees, and the newest addition…predators!
