Hit the trails confidently by learning the do’s and don’ts of responsible hiking! This program covers essential trail etiquette, including right-of-way rules, Leave No Trace principles, and how to share the path with fellow hikers, equestrians, and wildlife. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned explorer, practicing good trail manners helps keep our outdoor spaces safe, enjoyable, and beautiful for everyone. Join us for tips, demonstrations, and a short hike to implement your knowledge! We will have a table near the main parking lot with information on exploring the trails like and expert.
About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 43 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
