National Trails Day - Owl Prowl Night Hike
Where
Smith Mountain Lake State Park, 1235 State Park Rd., Huddleston, VA 24104.
Campfire Amphitheater, across from campground
When
June 7, 2025. 8:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
National Trails Day is a great opportunity to meet new people in your area and share a fun experience on a local trail. In this very special event, we will be exploring nature after the sun goes down and visualize it the way nocturnal animals do.
"Hoo-hoo" wants to join a park ranger in exploring the dark of night? We will be calling in owls that are hiding in the treetops. Come prepared with your flashlight and be ready to learn about these perching predators. We will start with an owl program, then at 8:30 p.m. head out on the trail to listen for owls.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather, and bring a flashlight. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required at the Visitor Center. Registration opens May 31 and closes at noon on June 7.
