Come join a ranger on a short hike along the Battlefield Trail to the historic fort at Staunton River Battlefield State Park to celebrate National Trails Day! You will be able to walk through the fort and across the historic bridge at the end as well, all while learning the story of the battle that took place here over 160 years ago. We will start the hike just outside the Clover Visitor Center and it will be about a half mile in length, walking on mostly flat terrain. About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 43 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
