Drop by the campfire to relax, meet your camping neighbors, enjoy time sharing stories, and learn about critters that call New River Trail home. No need to be a camper to join; bring the family and enjoy an evening under the stars amongst the glow of a fire. 

Marshmallow's will be provided for roasting. This FREE program is great for all ages. We hope to see you there! This program is only held weather permitting, so check the website for any cancellations. Please meet at the Cliffview Campground. 

Before the campfire, a ranger will hold a "Critters in the Creek" program from 4-5 p.m. along Chestnut Creek at the Cliffview Campground. You will have the chance to see different creatures and learn how to gauge the cleanliness of the stream. This fun activity will allow kids to learn more about the science of streams and their importance to the world we live in.

About National Kids to Parks Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
