Whooo’s out there in the dark? Join a ranger for a short, guided hike through the woods as we listen and call for some of Douthat State Park’s most mysterious nighttime residents: owls. Along the way, you’ll learn about the different species that live here, how they help keep the ecosystem in balance, and what makes these silent hunters so special. We’ll try our luck calling them in, so keep your eyes and ears open; you just might hear one!
We will walk approximately a mile on uneven terrain in the dark. Wear closed-toe shoes and be sure to sign up in advance at the Park Office. Parks are for everyone. If you have accessibility questions or concerns, please call 540-862-8114 or email Hannah.Johnson@dcr.virginia.gov.
