Birding In The Gap monthly Series

The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will offer a monthly "Birding in the Gap" on the second Saturday of each month. This series will be hosted by park rangers and volunteers.

Participants who are interested should meet at the front gate of the museum. We will walk around the museum grounds and along the beautiful greenbelt of the Powell River. Each month a different topic will be discussed; this month’s topic will be “Bird Songs”. Participants will be discussing bird songs, their meanings, and how to easily to identify birds, not only with your eyes but with your ears as well.

This monthly series will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are encouraged but not required.
