The Friends of Sailor's Creek Battlefield Historical State Park invite visitors to attend a fall American Civil War battle re-enactment at Sailor's Creek. There are two battles planned on Saturday, September 21, beginning at noon and 2 p.m. Two battles are also planned for Sunday, September 22, beginning at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The recreated battles will include Amelia Springs and the First High Bridge on Saturday, and then the battles of Marshall's Crossroads and Sailor's Creek on Sunday.
In conjunction with "Longstreet's Corps," the public is invited to visit the military camps and witness camp life firsthand. Camps are open to the public 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, and then 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday. There will be Infantry, Artillery, and Cavalry demonstrations both days.
Food vendors will be at the Hillsman House, and a shuttle bus will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Parking and admission are FREE for this event. Click here for more information and for re-enactor registrations.
