Due to the expected impact of the winter storm, all Virginia State Park overnight facilities will be closed from Friday, Jan. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 27. This decision is based on the forecast for unsafe conditions and potential power outages. For updates click here.

Junior Naturalists - Batty for Nature!

Location of Hungry Mother State Park in Virginia

Where

Hungry Mother State Park, 2854 Park Blvd., Marion, VA 24354.
Shelter 2

When

June 19, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Explore some of the coolest little critters that fly in our amazing world of the night sky above. Join an interpreter on Wednesdays this summer to learn about bats and what they mean for our ecosystem. Activities will change weekly. Parents may drop off older elementary-aged children (7 and over) but must stay with younger children to assist them in various activities.

Become a Hungry Mother Junior Naturalist by completing eight hours of programming on bats this summer! You will receive a certificate and patch and your family can attend the family picnic on July 31.

If you are from out of town and can only come one day, please come to the program and then pick up a Jr. Ranger Booklet at the front desk to work on the Jr. Ranger patch with your family during the rest of your stay.
