Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

May 18, 2024. 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Do you want your kids to learn how to kayak? Or perhaps you would like them to experience the environment in a unique way on the water. Children 8+ years old and their families are welcome to come to this special Kids to Parks event where all will learn about water safety, paddling skills, and viewing nature from a kayak. Each child under 18 years old must have an adult paired with them. The group will meet at the Aquia Creek paddle launch at 8:30am to debrief and get in the water by 9:00am. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and water!

The use of personal floatation devices is required at all times while on the water. You can either bring your own or the park will supply them free of charge. You are welcome to use your own kayak as well, if desired.

Pre-registration is required. Spots are limited and are first come, first serve. You can register here. Payment is $10/person and will be collected at the Visitor Center on the day of the event.
