Mulberry Hill

When

July 6, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join our staff for an "Independence Day Special" guided tour of Mulberry Hill, the plantation home of Judge Paul Carrington, Virginian and Founding Father. See where the minds that molded a nation lived and worked while dreaming up the idea of the United States. Take note of Carrington's newly restored law office during your visit where Paul spent countless hours studying and writing about freedom while just yards away his meals were prepared by enslaved labor.

Experience the stark contrast of the dependencies including the enslaved quarter kitchen/laundry duplex directly behind the "big house," and explore in conversation the roles of the enslaved supporting the operation.

Tours will begin promptly at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Each tour will start on the front porch of the house and will be approximately 35 minutes in length. Park rangers will be available for questions and additional information following each tour. These tours will include stairs and uneven ground. Pets are NOT permitted inside the house. These tours are FREE and require no reservations. Call (434) 454-4312 for more information.

Mulberry Hill address: 2667 Mulberry Hill Road, Saxe, VA, 23967.
