March 20, 2024. 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Join the Friends of Kiptopeke State Park as they present a special guest!  The Professor of Marine Science, Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), William & Mary and the Director of Virginia Institute of Marine Science Eastern Shore Laboratory, Richard Snyder, Ph.D.

Oysters, clams, mussels, and scallops have a rich history in coastal Virginia, from the native Americans to modern aquaculture.  Dr. Snyder will pull together elements of this history into compelling stories centered on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  Understanding the backstory of your seafood will perhaps add a deeper dimension of enjoyment and appreciation of these delectable critters.

This special presentation will be held at the Big Water Visitor Center on Wednesday March 20th starting at 5:30pm.  Please arrive early to get a seat.
