Who's Swimming in the Vernal Pool?

Location of Seven Bends State Park in Virginia

Where

Seven Bends State Park, 2111 South Hollingsworth Road, Woodstock, VA 22664.
Lupton Access - Picnic Shelter - 1191 Lupton Rd.

When

March 23, 2024. 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The appearance of frogs and salamanders are a sure sign of spring. Vernal pools, shallow pools of water that dry in the summer heat, provide a place for some very special amphibians to lay their eggs before returning to the land for the remainder of the year. Join VA Master Naturalist and herpetologist Hannah Bement to a vernal pool as we search for signs of these unique species. Please plan on meeting at the Lupton Access picnic shelter at 1pm for a two mile walk to a vernal pool. Dress for the weather and bring polarized sunglasses and binoculars if possible. The rain date is April 24 at the same time.

A daily ($5) or annual parking pass must be displayed in all vehicles. Either pass can be purchased as you enter the park that day.

Please let us know you can make it by registering here.
