Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's partial shadow, or penumbra, and only a portion of it passes through the darkest shadow, or umbra. During this type of eclipse, a part of the Moon will darken as it moves through the Earth's shadow. The eclipse will be visible throughout most of North America, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Atlantic Ocean, and most of Europe and Africa. The partial eclipse will be visible from the park's Observation Field which will remain open during this self-guided event.

Partial Lunar Eclipse Timeline:
- Penumbral eclipse will begin Tuesday, September 17 at 8:40 p.m.
- Start of partial eclipse Tuesday, September 17 at 10:12 p.m.
- End of partial eclipse Tuesday, September 17 at 11:16 p.m.
- Penumbral eclipse ends Wednesday, September 18 at 12:47 a.m.
