Friday, September 8

Nature Bingo Campfire @ 7pm on Lee's Woods Amphitheater

Put your thinking caps on and enjoy the setting sun next to a campfire. Rangers will facilitate discussions on Leesylvania State Park's ecology and natural history while guests test their knowledge in a trivia game. Guests are welcome to bring their own s'mores and who knows, there might even be a fun campfire sing-along or two! Saturday, September 9

Archeology 101 @ 11am in Visitor Center

By sorting through the remains of former civilizations, archaeologist can put together the pieces of a culture. Join rangers at the park in a fun, interactive, mock archeology dig to learn more about the Dogue Native American tribe and the basics of Archeology. This program is geared towards children but adults are always welcomed.

Canoe Trip on Powell's Creek located Boat Launch 1 @ 3 pm

Enjoy a fun paddling adventure at Leesylvania State Park on Powell's Creek! Watch majestic bald eagles and ospreys soar above, a heron hunting along the shore, and turtles basking in the sunshine. No paddling experience is required; all participants must be of 6 years or older. Spots are limited so make your reservation today and call the Visitor Center at (703)583-6904. Fee is due at time of reservation. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to event start time. Don't forget appropriate clothing, footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water.

Tree ID Hike @ 11am on Powell's Creek Trail

Want to know more about those trees you see daily? Join us to learn all about trees and our ecosystems and practice using a dichotomous key and tree characteristics to identify some of the native trees in our area. Remember to bring a reusable water bottle and wear closed toed shoes.

We ask that all scouts and troops call or email the visitor center to register for the events for the weekend. Space is limited. Park reaches capacity on weekends in the morning, so please arrive 30 to 15 minutes early for the morning events.
