Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Belle Isle State Park has over 9 miles of trails and many have scenic views along the Rappahannock River or one of three creeks bordering the park. Take a self-guided seek and find exploration, starting at our Porpoise Creek Trail, to find a clue in the Observation Blind directing you to the next destination and another clue. There are five destinations and you will find a token to be turned into the final stop for a prize. Along the way, you will see marshes, "gardens", tree-lined waterways, wildlife and waterfowl, learn a little about your park's history and more.
